Welcome to St. Chrysostom's church!

St. Chrysostom's in Manchester is a welcoming and inclusive church that is rooted in the Catholic tradition. We aim to be a strong catholic presence in our community. Spreading the word of God and reaching out to those most in need that we may serve others as Christ serves us. All are welcome!

This weekend is the Third Sunday of Advent or Gaudete Sunday

Next Sunday Mass takes place on 14 December at 11am, where Fr Admos will celebrate and Andrew will preach.
Sandra writes to mention a date for your diary for parents and carers.  Looking ahead - please do bring your children to Mass on Sunday 14 December, as we will be making christingles and processing them in the Mass.

Morning Prayer (Lauds) continues this weekend at 10.30am and every Sunday thereafter. This is the perfect way to prepare yourself for Holy Mass at 11am.

Our carol service is being held this weekend on Sunday 14 December at 6:30pm.
Please do come along, to enjoy the service and then fellowship with mince pies & mulled wine afterwards.

Next Mid-week Service takes place on Thursday 17 December at 1pm, where David Jackman will be leading a service of silent meditation for 20 minutes, with scripture readings from the Mass of the day.

Advance notices

Please send a picture of your Christmas tree to [email protected] and we can have a 'guess the tree' competition in the next few weeks' newsletter.

Interregnum news
Last week, Archdeacon Karen Best met with the PCC to share her thoughts on the way forward for the appointment of a new parish priest.  We thank her for her thoughful leadership and will be advertising the vacancy, nationally, early in the New Year.  This would then lead to interviews in the Spring and, God willing, appointment of a new parish priest perhaps in the late Summer.
She or he will be shared in that role with St Agnes, Longsight parish, with whom we continue to work.

Advance notice of Christmas events
  • Our Advent carol service (with a theme on Advent....) will be held in the evening of Sunday 14 December - 6:30pm this year.  Hold a slot in your diary.
  • Christmas Eve Mass will be held at 6:30pm on Wednesday 24 December
  • Christmas Day Mass will be held at 11am on Thursday 25 December

Funding raising appeal - White altar frontal - THANK YOU

Our beautiful 'white' altar frontal has now been repaired and returned to Church, after over 120 years of faithful service, restoring it to its former glory. Over £3,000 has been raised from the congregation. Thank you. However, we're asking those in the diaspora of St Chrysostoms, perhaps overseas or other part of the UK, whether you can contribute too. 'Can you help us with a £40 contibution' to pay for 1% of the repair costs or £20 for 0.5% of the repair costs?'.  Each contribution will be recorded on a Thank You list of donors in church to record our grateful thanks. Contributions can be made at Mass on Sunday, and also on this link:
https://givealittle.co/c/1ced62ab-1a93-45b8-bd12-acdeaa51915e.

Thank you for your contribution bringing back the glory of this altar frontal!
